Using OpenAthens allows us to offer more options to gain access to WSU Libraries resources. After all our resources have been migrated to OpenAthens authentication, all of the options below will work for all our resources. Starting on December 19th, 2022 this list will have the most up-to-date information as to which resources are using the new OpenAthens methods.
The first option to authenticate to gain access to library resources is via a direct link to a resource provided by the WSU Libraries. The most common direct links are provided through our Database A-Z list and within the Search It online catalog.
Some resources provide the ability to sign in to OpenAthens directly. To use this authentication method:
1. Determine if there is an OpenAthens sign-in option. Frequently, it is located under a generic login option and sometimes described as an organizational or institutional login. If this option is not apparent, please use the WSU Libraries provided links from the A-Z Databases list.
2. Use the "Find your Organization/Institution" option and enter "Washington State University."
3. Enter your WSU credentials
4. Your OpenAthens session will be authenticated. In most cases, you will see a WSU logo in the header after authentication.
