Basic Information

HEALWA Overview

  • HEALWA is the on-call library for health practitioners.
  • The bill to fund HEALWA was passed by the Washington State legislature in May 2007.
  • The online resource portal was launched two years later in 2009, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • HEALWA is hosted at the University of Washington Health Sciences Library.
  • The purpose of the website is to assure affordable, anytime, online access to current, authoritative clinical information and education resources to eligible healthcare practitioners in Washington State.
  • Currently 27,726 licensed healthcare practitioners in Washington are registered users of HEALWA--13.5% of all eligible license holders.
