APA Quick Citation Guide

In general

Creating references for audiovisual works presents the problem of picking through the many people associated with the work to settle on the one who should be named the author.  APA style recommends looking for a pattern in audiovisual formats to decide whether the work stands alone (a whole TV series, a music album, artwork) or whether it is part of a greater whole (episodes from a TV series or songs from a music album). 

Understanding this pattern helps researchers to determine the person who should stand as the author in the citation.  To help with this,  APA style has created a table, recreated below, to aid in determining authors by media format that details the many job titles that the lead person might have.
