Do I need to cite public domain images?
- While you are not legally required to cite public domain images, it is still considered best practice to provide attribution.
Do I need to cite personal images?
- You do not need to cite personal images, as long as they are not published elsewhere.
When do I cite a chapter of a book as opposed to the entire book?
- If the book is authored by one person, it is sufficient to cite the book as a whole. If the book contains chapters authored by different people (like textbooks frequently are), then you need to cite by chapter. Remember, when citing a book chapter, you must include the page numbers for that chapter in the citation. See "eBooks" or "Print Books" for more information.
What if I want to use AI?
"Nonhuman artificial intelligence, language models, machine learning, or similar technologies cannot be listed as authors because these technologies do not qualify for authorship." (from AMA Manual, section 5.1.12).
