Library Guide for ENGL 101 Instructors: Home

Resources to help you integrate information literacy and library resources into your ENGL 101 courses.

General Information

The library instruction program designed for ENGL 101 promotes critical thinking in order to cultivate a student's systematic approach to accessing, evaluating, and using information. This guide will help you prepare your class for upcoming library days, and how our librarians can partner with you to meet the needs of your students.

Guides for Students

  • ENGL 101 LibGuide
Created for your students, this guide provides information to help students with navigating the library website, its resources, and approaches to the research process and evaluating sources.

  • Citation Styles Guide
These quick reference guides provide easy access to common formatting and stylistic requirements for each citation style.

Research Help for Your Students

  • Book-A-Librarian
Students can book a one-on-one session with a librarian to figure out a research strategy for their 100 to 200 level projects/papers. Please encourage students to request a 45-minute research consultation with a librarian for any help with their research process. (Upper undergraduates are encouraged to consult with their librarian subject specialist.)

  • 24/7 Live Chat
Although WSU librarians are on the Reference Desk and answering live chats/email from 10 - 4 Monday-Friday, many of our students have questions in the wee hours of the night. If we are unavailable, students' questions will be answered by a librarian at another library, somewhere throughout the world.
