On April 6, 2023, WSU hosted a special program of contemporary Ukrainian poetry from the Lost Horse Press Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry Series. This library guide serves as a space to explore the poets and their works.
As a dual-language project, the Contemporary Ukrainian Poetry Series from Lost Horse Press brings the voices of Ukrainian poets to an English-speaking audience. Founded in 2017 by Christine Lysnewycz Holbert and editor Grace Mahoney, the series brings Ukraine’s poetry to an English-speaking audience, while allowing the reader to also see the poems in their original Ukrainian. As American cities welcome Ukrainian refugees, dual-language books provide an important tool for the preservation of Ukrainian literary culture as Ukrainians acclimate to a life in the English diaspora.
