Creative Commons and the Public Domain: Books

This guide explains how to find scholarly and creative work that can be reused in educational materials, theses, and the like. It also explains how to license one's own work for reuse.

Finding Books Open for Access and/or Reuse

Google Books Search

Although "free" does not necessarily signify public domain or Creative Commons, you can begin by searching Google Books for "free Google eBooks."

To find openly licensed books, navigate to Google Books and select "free Google ebooks" under the search filter.
