The WSU Libraries arranges most of the books in its collection by Library of Congress call numbers. Though history is covered in every discipline (e.g., women's history may be located in the women's studies call numbers while the medical history may be in the medicine call numbers), the major sections for history are listed below.

Class D – World History (except American History)

Class F – Local History of the United States

  • F 1 through F 975 – United States local history, including:
    • F 206 through F 220 – History of the South and South Atlantic States
    • F 296 through F 301 – History of the Gulf States and West Florida
    • F 300 through F 320 – History of Florida
  • F 1000 through F 1145 – British America/Canada
  • F 1170 – French America
  • F 1201through F3799  – Latin America
