WSU Libraries AI Trials

WSU Libraries AI Trials

Starting January 20th, 2026, the WSU Libraries will be running trials on three AI-powered research platforms. During these trials, we'd love to hear more about your experience using these platforms. When the trials begin, you can share your feedback by completing a survey.

Platform Comparisons

This table compares some of the features, strengths, and weaknesses of each tool. This is current as of December 12th, 2025, but AI tools are in constant development and can change from version to version.

A comparison matrix for three AI research tools: Consensus, Scite.ai, and Undermind.

AI Research Tool Source Data Output Strengths Limitations
Consensus Semantic Scholar, Open Alex Citations list, generative AI summary, "consensus meter" comparisons.
  • Search filtering (pub. year, journal quartiles, subject).
  • Links to library full-texts.
  • Limited uses of "deep research."
Scite.ai Smart Citation index Citations lists with expanded citation statements, generative AI summary.
  • Compares citations to other citing sources.
  • Greater full-text access.

Undermind Semantic Scholar

Citation list ranked by percent match, categorized overview, generative AI synthesis w/ gaps, timeline, foundational and adjacent work

  • Guided development for research questions.
  • Works at level of expert
  • Lacks embedded tools to assess quality of cited journals
