What is Open Access Week?

Open Access Week is a global annual event that seeks to raise awareness of open access principles, practices, and resources in academia. Open access is the free, immediate online availability of research outputs coupled with the rights to use these articles fully in the digital environment.

Research Exchange Upload-A-Thon

Tuesday, October 23 | 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM | SAC 205

Research Exchange is the WSU institutional repository, a space designed to preserve and share scholarship produced at this institution. During the Upload-A-Thon, you can stop by SAC 205 to receive assistance in uploading an article, dissertation, conference presentation, or any research output to Research Exchange. This includes articles that have already been published!

Film Screening: "Paywall: The Business of Scholarship"

This 1-hour documentary focuses on the need for open access to research and science, questions the rationale behind the $25.2 billion a year that flows into for-profit academic publishers, examines the 35-40% profit margin associated with the top academic publisher Elsevier and looks at how that profit margin is often greater than some of the most profitable tech companies.
