THE 2020 EDIBLE BOOK FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELED.
Edible Book Festivals happen all over the world, usually on or around April 1. According the website for the International Edible Book Festival, "April 1st is the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), famous for his book Physiologie du gout, a witty meditation on food. April fools' day is also the perfect day to eat your words and play with them as "books" are consumed on the day of the event." Festivals are a celebration of books, art, food, and culture. The rules for entries are fairly simple:
The second rule is often interpreted broadly. Entries could be in the shape of a book, scroll, eReader, or other format; they can represent any part of the book from title, to character, to setting, to author. Many participants also choose to incorporate a play on words using puns.
