Ebook Basics

This guide will give you basic information you need to find and view ebooks from the WSU Libraries.

How many pages can I print from an ebrary eBook?

The number of pages that can be printed is regulated by the publisher and complies with copyright law. When printing, you'll receive a message saying how many total pages are allowed to be printed and how many you have already printed from the book. (from Williams College Library)

If you are reading online (and have not checked out the book), you can:

  • Copy 15% of the book
  • Print or download 30% of the book

If you have checked out the entire book you can do the following from the offline version:

  • Copy 10% of the book
  • Print or download 10% of the book

You will be told exactly how many pages you have left to copy or download/print.

NOTE: Some publishers have their own, individual restrictions. See the eBrary Support Center for more information.

Ebrary Print or Save Options

You do not need to create a separate account to save or print chapters or sections of a book, but make sure you are logged into EBL through your WSU Network ID. You should automatically be prompted to do this prior to entering EBL.

To download the entire book for offline reading, you must download and create an account through Adobe Digital Editions. For more information, visit our library guide at the link below.

  1. Before you begin, create a free account. Sign in is located in the top right corner of your screen.
  2. To download a section or chapter, select "Chapter Download" from the left side of the screen. Then, click on "Read Online."
  3. From the left side, select your chapter or scroll the page you would like to start printing.
  4. From the top bar, select either the download or print icon.
  5. In the pop-up box, select your page range and citation preference. It will automatically download as a PDF, which you can then print or save, or both. For page limits, see the box at the top of the page.
