What are Course Reserves?
Reserves consist of items that your instructor has placed in the library for use by your class. The material formats vary from books, to articles, to movies. Reserves may be available in hard copy for checkout or in electronic copy for viewing online. Checkout times vary for each hard copy--ask the person at the main Circulation Desk for the checkout time for your reserve!
Locate Course Reserves
If your instructor has set up a link to course reserves in Blackboard, please use the link to access your course reserves reading list. The list will allow you to view the electronic resources placed on reserve by your instructor, and it will give you the call number and location of the physical materials on reserve for your course.
If your instructor is only utilizing physical materials, they may have chosen not to set up a link in Blackboard. In this case, please enter the course or instructor name in the course reserves search in Search It. Write down the call number of the item you need, and give it to the employee at the circulation desk of the appropriate library.
Reserves check out for various times ranging from 2 hrs. to 7 days. Some items must be used within the library. Upon checkout the employee will tell you the loan rule and whether the item can leave the library.
Reserve materials may not be renewed. You must wait 30 minutes before checking out the same materials. Items may not be recalled or put on hold. All reserve items are on a first come-first served policy.
While each library on campus houses a Reserves Unit, the primary Reserves Unit is located at the main circulation desk on the First Floor of Holland and Terrell Libraries.
