Movies, Films, Music CDs and More: Reserves for STUDENTS

Media Materials & Reserves (MMR) is a section of the library that houses our closed media collections and course reserves.

Welcome Students

What are Course Reserves?

Reserves consist of items that your instructor has placed in the library for use by your class. The material formats vary from books, to articles, to movies. Reserves may be available in hard copy for checkout or in electronic copy for viewing online. Checkout times vary for each hard copy--ask the person at the main Circulation Desk for the checkout time for your reserve!

Finding Something on Reserve

Locate Course Reserves

If your instructor has set up a link to course reserves in Canvas, please use the link to access your course reserves reading list. The list will allow you to view the electronic resources placed on reserve by your instructor, and it will give you the call number and location of the physical materials on reserve for your course.

If your instructor is only utilizing physical materials, they may have chosen not to set up a link in Canvas. In this case, please enter the course or instructor name in the course reserves search in Search It. Write down the call number of the item you need, and give it to the employee at the circulation desk of the appropriate library.

Policies

Loan Periods

Reserves check out for various times ranging from 2 hrs. to 7 days.  Some items must be used within the library.  Upon checkout the employee will tell you the loan rule and whether the item can leave the library.

Reserve materials may not be renewed. You must wait 30 minutes before checking out the same materials. Items may not be recalled or put on hold. All reserve items are on a first come-first served policy

Fines

Reserve materials accrue fines when returned late. The fine rate varies depending on loan period and material type. For more information on fines see the Library Fines information page.
