What's a Literature Review?

"In a literature review, all of the available evidence on a topic is retrieved and reviewed, so that an overall picture of what is known about the topic is achieved. The value of one individual piece of research is greater if it is seen in the context of other literature on the same topic."

- Aveyard, H. (2010). Doing a Literature Review in Health and Social Care : A Practical Guide (2nd Edition). Berkshire, GBR: McGraw-Hill Education. p. 2. Retrieved from http://www.ebrary.com
