Residence Life Library Programming

A quick guide to programs the WSU Libraries offer to Residence Halls. Don't see anything you like? Contact us and let us know what you want to do. We'll make it happen.

Activities in Your Hall

Bulletin Board Kits
All the information you need to create a rockin' research bulletin board. Request a library-themed bulletin board kit and save yourself the time and energy of having to do it all on your own. Each kit will contain ready-made pieces you can use to build an educational, fun display for your hall. In the kit you will find information about library services, resources, and general study and research tips. All bulletin board kits will be sent in electronic format (PDF), straight to your email, so you can customize the layout for your hall. The standard colors are a crimson and grey scheme, but if you would prefer another color scheme, or a black and white one optimized to be printed on colored paper, share your preference when you request your kit.

Hall Bulletin Board
Create a bulletin board about the history of your hall. Find old photos of the construction, hall dances, rules, etc. Contact Erica and we'll dive into the archives together.

Library Basics: Services, Spaces, Resources
This is a great introduction to the WSU Libraries. Designed to give an overview of library services and resources, it can be personalized for your hall and residents.

Activities in the Library

Library Scavenger Hunt
Learn about the crazy amount of resources available in the libraries, from the practical and important to the silly and weird. Students will find various types of resources in all corners of the library (including online!) all while running around like crazy. (Approx. 1 hour, minimum of 6 participants plus RAs. Works best as a competition between floors or groups.)

Read-in
What a crazy idea--reading at the library! Help your students stay on top of studying by scheduling time for them to come to the library. We will schedule a library computer classroom for your students to use for an open study hour. They can use the time for reading, researching, planning a project, and more. There's no set activity here, just time for your students to sit and focus on getting the job done, with all the library's resources at their fingertips, including a librarian for research support. (Approx. 1 hour or more -- we'll work with you!)

Study Breaks
Schedule a study break in the library, and we'll organize some low-stress, hands-on games and/or crafts to recharge. What's included is up to you. Board games, coloring books, Pinterest crafts. Bring a snack from the CUB and destress. (Approx. 1 hour or more, held in the evening.)

Note about prizes and food

Just a quick note about prizes and food: Any prizes for competitions or food provided for events is the responsibility of the hosting Hall/floor. Food and beverages are allowed in the Holland and Terrell Libraries, and we are happy to work with your group to accommodate these requests. Just let us know when you book your event if you would like to bring in food and/or beverages.
